ABOUT US
In 2022, Jeffrey Pelayo was invited to present art in New York‘s St. Paul the Apostle Church. He taught himself how to sew so he could present a collection that conveyed the hardships of navigating Catholic and American ideologies as a queer, Filipino man. After much censorship and erasure from the Church, he and his partner, Ina Patrice, continued to create, believing that their work deserved to be seen on a mainstream level. They understood that this isolation is a feeling many young people experience today. 

At Pelayo Prophecy, we believe that failure is a necessary part of our process. We acknowledge and embrace our struggles because we are forged from the fires that burn us. Our goal isn’t victory, our motivation is resiliency.

Pelayo Prophecy melds opposing ideas and identities with passion. Our brand is vulnerable, honest, and gutsy. It’s one thing to just wear clothes versus to embody an entire statement. We choose to build community, courage, and chaos in a world that enforces normal, traditional, and clean.

BEHIND THE NAME
Pelayo = Perseverance through Filipino legacies, rooted in familial, communal, and ancestral connection. “The Pelayos are fighters,” Jeffrey’s father once told him. 

Prophecy = The things that are meant to happen will happen — Divine good, human excellence, and the rewards of our resistance.
